This update enables users to keep distinct versions of a series—such as a standard DVD release and a community-enhanced laserdisc restoration—organized separately while maintaining their individual metadata and playback status. To implement this, users must have a Plex Pass subscription. The organization can be achieved through two primary methods: renaming the show's folder on the file system to include the edition label in curly brackets, or by manually editing the edition field directly within the Plex web interface. Once the library is re-scanned, Plex displays the different versions as separate entries. For improved navigation, users can assign unique posters to each edition, ensuring that viewers can easily distinguish between them on any supported client. This feature simplifies the management of varied media formats and fan-made edits, providing a cleaner, more structured library experience for users with extensive collections.
