Apple iOS 18 allows users to create custom passes directly inside the Wallet app

Apple's iOS 18 update introduces a native "Create a Pass" feature within the Apple Wallet app, allowing users to digitize physical cards, tickets, and membership passes. Users can generate custom passes automatically by scanning a physical card with their iPhone camera or by importing a screenshot from their photo library. The Wallet app automatically detects barcodes and QR codes, extracts relevant text fields like membership numbers and names, and even matches the color scheme of the source card. For more control, a manual creation mode allows users to select from standard, membership, or event templates, customize text fields, choose background colors and textures, and select from a library of pre-designed icons. Once created, these custom passes can be edited or shared with others via AirDrop, Messages, or Mail. However, the beta version of this feature currently lacks advanced capabilities found in third-party pass creators, such as location-based lock screen triggers and the ability to upload custom logos or graphics.

Apple iOS 18 introduces a native "Create a Pass" option inside the Wallet app to digitize physical cards and tickets. The automatic pass creation tool can extract barcodes, text, and color schemes from physical cards or imported screenshots.

Users can manually build passes using templates for standard, membership, or event cards with custom text fields. Manual passes support background customization, including solid colors and textures like beams, rays, and glass.

Custom passes created in the Wallet app can be shared with others using AirDrop, Messages, or Mail. The current beta version of the pass creator does not support location-based lock screen triggers or custom logo uploads.
