Adobe has announced a new partnership with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group that will bring a library of licensed music to the Adobe Premiere mobile app. This integration allows users to browse, search, and preview popular tracks from these major labels directly within the editing interface, aiming to streamline the process of incorporating recognizable music into video projects.
The new features are designed to help creators build edits around specific songs. Users will be able to filter the music library by genre and duration, bookmark favorite tracks, and explore collections curated by the labels. Additionally, Adobe plans to offer customizable templates that come pre-paired with music, allowing users to begin their editing workflow without manually searching for a track.
There are specific limitations to the implementation, as users will be restricted to adding up to 60 seconds of a licensed track to their videos. Adobe has clarified that these tracks are licensed exclusively for personal, non-commercial use. For projects requiring commercial licensing, the company will continue to maintain its separate Adobe Stock Audio platform.
By enabling users to select music directly within the app, Adobe intends to simplify the process of sharing content on social media platforms. Videos created with these licensed tracks can be exported and posted to supported social networks without the risk of copyright strikes or takedown notices that often affect user-generated content.
While Adobe has confirmed that these features are coming soon, the company has not provided a specific release date or disclosed the full extent of the music catalogs that will be available. It remains unclear whether the new library will eventually be extended to the desktop version of Premiere Pro, as Adobe has not yet responded to inquiries regarding broader platform availability.
