Apple has launched the HomeView, a smart home hub available in two configurations: a stand-mounted version and a wall-mounted model. Both versions feature a 7-inch liquid retina display with 500 nits of brightness and are powered by the A18 chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 16 series. The device includes a 12-megapixel center-stage camera for FaceTime calls and mirror-mode self-checks. As a central home hub, the HomeView can recognize up to six individual users, utilizing the camera to identify who is interacting with the device. Security is managed through proximity sensing and the user's last iPhone unlock time, rather than FaceID. The hub integrates with the Apple Home Collection, allowing users to view up to nine camera feeds simultaneously and manage various smart home accessories. Both versions are priced at $299, though the wall-mounted model requires a separate purchase of a mounting accessory and power source. The stand-mounted version includes a USB-C cable and a 30W power adapter, while the wall-mounted version does not.
