Samsung unveils 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup featuring 1,100Hz display

Samsung Electronics debuted its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, showcasing a range of displays that push refresh rates into unprecedented territory. The collection is headlined by the 27-inch Odyssey G6, which Samsung identifies as the world’s first 1,100Hz gaming monitor. This IPS LCD display achieves its maximum refresh rate at HD resolution, while a secondary Dual Mode allows for a 600Hz refresh rate at QHD resolution.

The lineup also includes significant advancements in OLED technology with the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9. This model features a 5th generation QD-OLED panel that offers a 360Hz refresh rate at its native 5,120 x 1,440 resolution. Users can also engage a 720Hz mode by reducing the resolution to 2,560 x 720. According to Samsung, this panel is 1.3 times more efficient than its predecessor and includes a full RGB stripe for improved text clarity, with peak brightness reaching 1,300 nits on a 3% window.

For users seeking a more conventional format, the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 provides a 4K resolution at 360Hz. This monitor offers flexible performance modes, allowing users to switch to 520Hz at QHD resolution or 680Hz at FHD. The G8 includes Samsung’s Glare Free anti-reflection film, which the company claims is 54% less glossy than traditional coatings. Connectivity options for the G8 include DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, two HDMI ports, and a USB-C port supporting 98W power delivery.

Rounding out the new arrivals is the 42-inch Odyssey OLED G7, a curved 1000R monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 4K resolution at 165Hz. While Samsung has confirmed the technical specifications for these models, pricing and specific release dates remain undisclosed, with the exception of the Odyssey G6, which is slated for availability in the second half of 2026.

Beyond hardware, Samsung announced a partnership with Activision Blizzard to integrate HDR10+ Gaming support into 20 AAA titles. This rollout is expected to begin in the first half of 2027, starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The HDR10+ standard is royalty-free and designed to provide specific gaming-oriented HDR features.
