NVIDIA has officially released its native Linux application for GeForce NOW, marking the end of the service's beta phase on the platform. The final release, which follows months of community feedback, is designed to improve overall stability and performance. It maintains support for Ubuntu 24.04 and later versions, with NVIDIA introducing a new Flatpak repository to simplify both the initial installation process and the delivery of future software updates.
Beyond the platform expansion, NVIDIA has implemented server-side optimizations to its DLSS Frame Generation technology. These adjustments are intended to reduce input latency, making streaming sessions feel more responsive to user inputs. The company noted that these improvements are most apparent when streaming at 60 or 120 frames per second at 1440p or 4K resolutions, providing a more immediate feel for mouse movements and camera pans.
Performance-tier members are also receiving additional server-side software updates aimed at increasing frame rates in CPU-intensive titles. These optimizations are applied automatically by NVIDIA, requiring no manual configuration or installation from the user. The company stated that these changes are intended to help demanding games run more smoothly across existing hardware setups, including Chromebooks, Macs, and various laptops.
The service continues to expand its library, adding nine new titles this week, including the Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. While GeForce NOW allows users to stream games from their existing digital libraries, NVIDIA reminds users that they must own the games or hold a valid license through services like PC Game Pass to access them on the platform. The service also maintains monthly usage limits for its subscribers.
