Google unveils Pixel 11 series with Tensor G6 and HiLight notification system

Google has officially introduced its 2026 flagship smartphone lineup, consisting of the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold. The series is powered by the new Tensor G6 processor, which Google claims provides faster app loading, improved web browsing speeds, and more efficient on-device AI performance compared to the previous generation. The devices are available for preorder, with the base Pixel 11 starting at $899, the 11 Pro at $1,099, and the 11 Pro XL at $1,299.

A primary hardware addition for the Pro models is HiLight, an array of ambient LED lights integrated into the camera bar. Designed to function similarly to legacy notification LEDs, HiLight provides visual cues for incoming calls or alerts when the phone is placed face down. The feature is customizable, allowing users to assign specific colors to contacts. This design change is accompanied by a new edge-to-edge glass camera bar that aims for a more seamless aesthetic across the back of the handsets.

Camera capabilities have received both hardware and software updates. The standard Pixel 11 features a new, larger 48-megapixel main sensor that Google states is 56% more light-sensitive than its predecessor, alongside a 30x Super Zoom. The Pro models include redesigned 48-megapixel telephoto hardware and support for up to 120x Pro Zoom. Software enhancements include Magic Capture, which uses AI to select optimal frames from short video clips, and new film-style color presets.

Display specifications have also been refined, with the Pixel 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL reaching a peak brightness of 3,600 nits, an increase from the 3,300 nits found on the Pixel 10 Pro series. The base Pixel 11 maintains a 3,000-nit peak brightness. While battery capacities on paper appear slightly lower than the previous generation, Google cites the efficiency of the Tensor G6 and Adaptive Battery software to support claims of over 30 hours of battery life.

The lineup has shifted its storage strategy by removing the 128GB entry-level option, meaning the series now starts at 256GB of storage. RAM configurations vary by model and storage capacity, with 12GB of RAM standard on the base Pixel 11 and 256GB Pro models, while 512GB and 1TB Pro variants include 16GB of RAM. Wireless charging speeds have also been upgraded to 25W via the Qi2.2 standard.
