Google has begun the rollout of its September 2026 Pixel Drop, delivering a suite of new features to supported Pixel smartphones and Pixel Watch models. The update, which is currently reaching users, includes expanded security tools for phones and enhanced gesture controls for wearable devices.
For Pixel smartphone users, the update brings Scam Detection to the Gboard keyboard for devices from the Pixel 6 series and newer in the United States. This feature displays a warning chip above the keys when it identifies potentially fraudulent content in messaging applications. Additionally, Scam Detection is expanding its reach to several international markets, including Canada, Australia, India, and parts of Europe, where it will flag suspicious incoming chat notifications.
The update also introduces Pause Point to Pixel 6 and newer phones, a feature previously exclusive to the Pixel 11 series. This tool is designed to curb unintentional app usage by inserting a brief delay before a user can open applications identified as distracting. Other phone-focused additions include updated widgets for Pixel VIP contacts, allowing for one-tap calling and texting, and a promotional integration with Audible featuring Harry Potter-themed customization options.
Pixel Watch owners are receiving a significant set of functional updates as part of the release. Models including the Pixel Watch 2, 3, and 4 are gaining Gemini Personalization, which utilizes past conversations and data from connected Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, and Photos to provide tailored responses to user queries. This system functions through a combination of offline user profiles and real-time online retrieval.
Users of the Pixel Watch 3 and newer gain a variety of new gesture controls, including a double-pinch action to open the At a Glance view, notification center, or to scroll through Gemini responses and Wallet cards. A wrist-turn gesture has also been added as a universal back navigation command. Pixel Watch 4 and newer models receive improved raise-to-talk performance, while the update also includes general bug fixes and stability improvements across the watch lineup.
The software is arriving as build CP3A.260905.002 for the Pixel Watch 3 and 4, and CP3A.260905.002.E1 for the Pixel Watch 2. Google has indicated that the full rollout of these updates may take several weeks to reach all eligible devices.
