Google has officially unveiled the Pixel Tag, its first dedicated item tracker designed to compete with established market rivals. The device is scheduled for release on November 11, 2026, with a single unit priced at $29 and a four-pack available for $99. Unlike the company's recently announced Pixel 11 smartphones and Pixel Watch 5, which are available for preorder immediately, the Pixel Tag will arrive later in the year.
The tracker distinguishes itself with a slim, elongated capsule shape that measures 46.1mm by 28mm and 5.4mm in thickness. This profile is significantly thinner than the 8mm thickness typically found in competing trackers, making it better suited for placement in wallets or passport sleeves. The device is finished in a single color option called Fog and features a polycarbonate shell with a metal back panel.
Technical capabilities include both Ultra Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding. While UWB provides precise distance and direction tracking on compatible devices, Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding allows for sub-meter distance accuracy on any phone or tablet equipped with the newer Bluetooth standard. This dual-tracking approach is intended to improve location precision and mitigate signal-spoofing risks.
The Pixel Tag integrates with Google’s Find Hub network, which utilizes the global Android device ecosystem to locate lost items. Users can share access to a tag with up to 10 people and receive alerts if they leave an item behind. Additionally, the device includes a button that can trigger a sound on a paired phone, and the system is designed to detect and alert users if an unknown tracker is traveling with them.
Durability and maintenance features include an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, allowing the device to withstand submersion in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. The tracker is powered by a user-replaceable CR2032 coin battery, which Google estimates will last for over a year. The device lacks built-in hooks or clips, requiring separate accessories for attachment to keys or luggage.
