Apple has released version 1.12.0 of its Apple Invites app for iPhone, introducing three primary feature updates that leverage capabilities found in iOS 27. The application, which launched in February 2025, is designed to facilitate event planning and management, allowing users to create invitations for gatherings such as birthday parties and baby showers.
A significant addition in this update is the support for full-resolution photo sharing within shared albums. This change allows event participants to view and contribute images in their original quality directly through the app. Apple noted that this functionality extends to all guests, including those who do not use Apple devices, ensuring that contributors can share event moments without the compression previously applied to shared media.
The update also expands the creative tools available through Image Playground. Users can now generate high-quality, photorealistic backgrounds for their invitations, providing more flexibility in customizing the visual style of their event pages. This integration aligns with broader updates to the Image Playground feature set available within the latest iOS operating system.
In addition to these creative and media-focused changes, Apple has streamlined the guest verification process. Individuals receiving an invitation who need to verify their email address can now complete the process by tapping a direct link in their inbox. This replaces the previous requirement of manually entering a verification code, which the company intends to make the event entry process more efficient.
While the Apple Invites app is free to download and use for responding to events, creating new invitations requires an active iCloud+ subscription with at least 50GB of storage, priced at $0.99 per month. The latest version of the app, which is approximately 113MB in size, also includes general bug fixes and performance improvements and is currently available for download via the App Store.
