Apple has officially kicked off Indie Games Week on the App Store, a promotional event designed to showcase titles from independent developers. The initiative features seven specific games that are either launching on the platform this week or are available for pre-order, with Apple highlighting the creative efforts of both solo developers and small studios.
The featured lineup includes Sifu, a third-person martial arts brawler that has been adapted for mobile with custom touch controls and controller support. Other titles now available include the deck-building game Vampire Crawlers, the open-world exploration game Little Kitty, Big City, the mining simulator Dome Keeper, the kingdom-management title Yes, Your Grace 2: Snowfall, and the card-based strategy game 9 Kings.
The most prominent addition to the App Store catalog is No Man's Sky, which is scheduled for a mobile debut on October 28. The mobile version will include every major content expansion released to date, including the recent Cosmos update. Hello Games has confirmed that the title will support touch controls as well as mouse, keyboard, and controller inputs.
Compatibility for No Man's Sky extends to the iPhone 11 and later models, as well as the iPad Air 3rd generation and newer devices. While the game brings the full procedurally generated universe to mobile, it will not include multiplayer, cross-save, cross-play, or Settlements at launch. The game will be free to download with a full-game unlock available as a $19.99 in-app purchase.
Apple's head of App Store Worldwide, Carson Oliver, stated that the event aims to celebrate the risks taken by independent teams to push gaming forward. Throughout the week, the App Store will feature curated collections and daily spotlights to draw attention to these titles and the broader catalog of indie games available on the platform.
